Dr. Thomas Kingsbury was found murdered in the Hotel California. Kingsbury was attending the Union of Near-Death Experiences Retreat (UNDER). Unlike other attendees, Kingsbury did not believe in near-death experiences. Truth be told, Kingsbury believed in very little and earned his reputation through debunking the paranormal. The resort hotel has 711 rooms; the hotel detective suggests there are about 710 suspects.
